Our History

Bethany Raab founded Colorado LCSW Supervision in March 2015. After being an agency social worker for nearly a decade, and an agency supervisor for 5 years, Bethany was acutely aware of the need for accessible, attentive, and consistent clinical supervision.

Colorado LCSW Supervision started small with just a handful of supervisees and one supervision group. The relationships created in these sessions inspired Bethany to build something bigger and more intentional.

As for us all, Colorado LCSW Supervision experienced unexpected and sudden shifts in 2020. All of our supervision sessions moved online during the COVID-19 pandemic, and remain online to this day. Social work practice and social work supervision experienced immense growth and stress during the pandemic. Not only were social workers publicly recognized as essential workers, but demand for our services increased exponentially. Our collective need for support as we navigated this new world of social work was unprecedented. We were ready. We added availability for more individual supervision sessions and added two new supervision groups.

Two notable silver linings emerged from the pandemic. First, virtual supervision became the norm for our clients. Gone are the days of leaving work and scrambling across town to get to an in-person session. Thankfully, the Colorado State Legislature amended the Mental Health Practice Act to permanently allow virtual supervision. Second, we were able to expand our services to social workers across the state of Colorado. To date, we have served social workers in Aspen, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Gunnison, and Steamboat Springs. We have supported folks from California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Ohio, and Texas seeking licensure in Colorado.

The excitement continued to build in 2022 as Colorado LCSW Supervision expanded to a four-person team. Ashley, Bethany, Elena, and Jenny have created a dynamic team whose primary goals are to make the social work profession more diverse, more equitable and more supportive. We are deeply committed to our communities our clients, and the social work profession. All four supervisors hold advanced credentials in addition to their LCSW. Collectively, we have held numerous board positions and each of us volunteer in our own communities.

We can't wait to hear from you. Let's work together to make your social work career exactly what you dreamed it could be.
